Jacques Bulchand Gidumal is a Full Professor of Digital Business and Tourism at the Department of Economics and Business Management. He teaches in the Engineering schools and in the School of Business and Tourism at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He holds a Bachelor in Computer Sciences and a Ph.D. in Business Management. He teaches and researches in the areas of Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Tourism since 1996. He has 10 years of experience in the public sector and 10 years in the private sector in areas related to planning and management of information systems and ICT. He advices several organizations in the processes related to innovation and deployment of ICT.

Jacques Bulchand-Gidumal is a Full Professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s School of Economic, Business Sciences and Tourism and in the Engineering Schools (Computer Sciences, Telecommunications). He holds a Computer Sciences degree from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a Masters Degree in Management of Information Systems from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Ph. D. in Business Administration from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Since 2007 he teaches Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Tourism at this University, where he is an academician since 1996. From 2001 to 2007 he was the Chief ICT Policy Officer of the University. In that period he was in charge of the planning of the deployment of IS and ICT, having been the author of the Strategic Plan for IS/ICT and a methodology for the development of these plans in organizations. Between 2021 and 2022 he was the Customer-Centric Digitalization Director. Between 1996 and 2007 he was also a part time teacher in the university. Before that, he worked five years for the Government of the Canary Islands in areas related to management of IS/ICT and seven years for different organizations in the Canary Islands and in Northern Italy, in the areas of public transport and distribution. He acts as an advisor for different firms in the Canary Islands, in the public and in the private sector. He advices in e-administration projects, in information systems planning and implementation projects, in regional innovation projects, in Internet e-business and e-commerce strategies and in social media strategies for tourism organizations. He has published more than 100 articles between papers in referred journals, chapters in books and papers in conferences.
